United Policyholders is funded by foundation grants, donations from individuals and businesses, and book sales. The organization is “not for profit – not for sale.” United Policyholders does not accept funding from insurance companies or insurer trade associations.
Support from individuals
Every year individuals across the country support UP’s work by making a tax-deductible donation via check or credit card. Donors can contribute safely online through Network for Good. Please click here to give today.
Support from organizations/corporations/businesses
Businesses support United Policyholders via donations and employee matching programs, and/or special project funding. Special projects include underwriting the cost of giving away Roadmap to Recovery tools to loss victims in disaster areas. These tools include the Roadmap to Recovery™ Organizer, the Disaster Recovery Handbook and Household Inventory Guide and the UP Home Inventory flash drive.
United Policyholders has a large national network of volunteers that perform a variety of functions within the organization. There are currently 150 trained volunteer homeowners in our Disaster Survivor Support Network program, over 100 volunteer lawyers involved in our Amicus Project, and numerous professionals that serve as volunteers for purposes of reviewing and contributing to publications in our Claim Help and Buying Tips libraries. None of the members of United Policyholders’ Board of Directors receive compensation for their Board service.
Qualified businesses and professionals that offer services to the public relating to insurance claims and/or loss recovery and that have made a sponsorship-level donation to support United Policyholders’ work are identified in a “Find Help” directory.
