This summer the cross street near me was rebuilt. My house is the second one in from the street. My house sustained a considerable number of new cracks in the plaster walls. My claim for compensation from the construction company's insurance carrier was denied. My homeownwers policy does not cover "earth movement." All houses with property line(s) on the rebuilt street were assessed prior to construction. We were unaware the construction company was doing this until after the re-build, when our neighbor on the corner mentioned it to us.
