I filed a flood insurance claim after Sandy in Nov.. Then I filed an appeal (March 1st) after hiring a structural engineer and was denied (June 30th). Mid July I filed a supplemental claim (minus the structural rebuild) that still hasn't been processed. Will there be a problem processing the supplemental claim? Does the appeal/denial have any affect on the supplemental claim. Also, my adjuster says that my policyholder, Hartford, requires that I sign a contract with a contractor before they will process the supplemental. Does that sound possible? How can I be required to sign a contract with anyone before I know the scope of work and the money I have to complete the job?
