I suffer loss on 12/18/11 from water damage. The insurance company has not given any money for repair and I am forced to live in an apartment. The contractor and insurance company agreed to a price for repair, but they refuse to issue a check until I sign a release of all claims, which would negate my claims for ALE, personal property, etc. I want to get back in my home but no work can begin until they issue some money for repair. How can I overcome these delays? I sent them a letter telling them why I could not sign the release and asking that they pay me and the contractor immediately so that work can begin to restore my home so that I can move back in. What is a reasonable time for this to occur? I flied a complaint with the Florida Dept. of Financial Services but that takes at least 20 more days.
