Roadmap to Recovery Local Coordinator

Maitreya Badami served as a the UP’s Camp Fire Local Recovery Coordinator from 2018-2021.  She helped coordinate our in-person Roadmap to Recovery workshops in Butte County following the 2018 Camp Fire.  Following COVID-19 pandemic shelter-in-place order she helped keep local momentum for the Roadmap to Recovery program as UP pivoted to virtual services.  She helped launch UP’s virtual pro bono insurance help legal clinics and helped engage local volunteers throughout the recovery.

She is currently a professor at CSU Chico in the Political Science and Criminal Justice Department. In addition to teaching, she currently supervises the Community Legal Information Clinic at Chico State. Maitreya previously practiced criminal law at the trial, appellate, and post-conviction levels. From 2010-2017, she taught and practiced full time with the Northern California Innocence Project (NCIP), a clinical educational program at Santa Clara University School of Law.
